Web host and cloud services provider
DigitalOcean and web applications library provider Bitnami have formed a partnership. The company, the world's second-largest web hosting provider with 500,000 users utilizing its cloud servers, was established in 2012. It operates with a vision of simplifying infrastructure to enable developers to "build, deploy, and scale web applications". The partnership with Bitnami will simplify complex applications installations for its customers.
Bitnami provides "one-click" access to a wide range of server applications and development environments. These include solutions like WordPress, Drupal, GitLab, Elasticsearch and SugarCRM. Installations can go directly into a computer, a virtual machine, or a cloud environment. Bitnami compiles and configures applications "so they work out-of-the-box".
DigitalOcean will give its users free months free access Bitnami. The service takes over from its own in-house installation service. The move towards Bitnami is driven by the company's "rapid growth" and its need to refocus engineering resources.
“Bitnami is the simplest application launchpad on the market,” explained DigitalOcean's co-founder and CMO, Mitch Wainer. “With our simplified cloud infrastructure underneath we’re removing a lot of unnecessary complexity, making it easier for software developers to get up and running.”
