Web Hosting Provider UnitedHosting Partners with R1Soft for Continuous Data Protection Backup Technology |
 |
April 4, 2007 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Web hosting provider UnitedHosting has partnered with R1Soft for Continuous Data Protection (CDP) backup technology, it was announced today. CDP allows UnitedHosting to run close to continuous data backups of its customer data. The company has established a private network between its datacenters to facilitate CDP backups to off-site secure locations.
R1Softs CDP technology works at disk sector level, rather than traditional file level. With the solution, in a worst-case scenario, end users might lose only one-minutes worth of data rather than many hours, days or weeks using more traditional backup approaches. Users receive control panel access to remote backups that allows them to restore individual files or entire sites from any point in time over the past couple of weeks.
Our new off-site CDP backups provide our clients with complete piece of mind at many levels. If a customer deletes a file by mistake, it can be restored, but also in the face of any major catastrophe we have a secure, off-site copy of all data which can be restored to new servers in record time, explained United Communications Limiteds Director, Mr. Matthew Wallis.
UnitedHostings move comes on the heels of initiatives such as MailFoundry hardware spam filtering and underscores the companys commitment to the introduction of enterprise level infrastructure to its web hosting services. |
