| October 3, 2005 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – October 3, 2005 sees the limited launch of the .travel domain extension. The limited launch, a requirement of ICANN, will take place for a 90-day period with the intention of demonstrating that all .travel systems are “operating and functioning as planned” for the ultimate full launch. To obtain a .travel extension domain companies involved in the travel industry have to go through a rigorous authentication process conducted by 30 travel trade associations. Ron Andruff, President and CEO, Tralliance Corporation, the company conducting the launch, suggested, "The response to .travel continues to increase in volume and enthusiasm. Thousands of .travel registrants, representing virtually all components of the travel industry, from entire nations to individually-owned travel service providers, have already been authenticated and will be able to apply for their .travel domain names as of October 3." |
