Web Hosting Provider The Planet Expands KVM |
 |
December 21, 2007 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Web hosting provider The Planet (http://www.theplanet.com/) has expanded its KVM offering, the company announced today. The Planet, which bills itself as the worlds largest privately held dedicated hosting company, is offering KVM over IP across the entire server fleet in each of its six world-class data centers.
Using the Lantronix SecureLinx Spider KVM solution (KVM stands for keyboard, video and mouse), The Planets customers are able to install software on a server and manage its operating system remotely. KVM enables The Planets customers to manage and control their servers at the console level to simplify troubleshooting.
Our customers are technically sophisticated, so having unfettered access and control at the console gives them the peace of mind they require when they have critical applications in a hosted model, explained Urvish Vashi, The Planets Director of Product Management. The Planet has established a leadership position in the hosting market, and one of our priorities is to empower customers with the technologies they require. Previously we provided KVM only to our elite private rack customers. Today, every customer now has these capabilities, even if they are hosting a single server.
The Planet hosts more than 22,000 small- and medium-size businesses and 3.1 million Web sites worldwide. The company is running a promotion until January 31, 2008 where it is reducing setup fees. Full information is available at the companys corporate Web site. |
