Web Hosting Provider Go Daddy Launches Extended Validation Certificates

February 2, 2007 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Web hosting provider Go Daddy (http://www.godaddy.com) has launched extended validation SSL certificates, the company announced yesterday. The certificates are currently available for sale and ready-to-install.

SSL certificates were established to validate online business identities and digitally authenticate the identity of a website. They encrypt information via Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to enable secure connections and provide protection for online purchasers.

Go Daddy Turbo SSL and High Assurance SSL offer 256-bit encryption technology alongside a robust verification process that offers “the most stringent vetting process for SSL encryption available today”. The process involves “verifying the applying organization’s identity and typically requires a letter from a representing attorney or accountant”. Go Daddy EV SSL certificates are issued within two to four hours of documentation being received.

“EV SSLs are the next logical step for us as a Certificate Authority. Internet shoppers need to know they are protected when they input financial or otherwise personal information online and EV certificates help accommodate that,” explained Go Daddy President and COO, Mr. Warren Adelman. “Go Daddy has been part of the process of creating the EV standard since its inception. We were happy to work with browser vendors and our fellow certificate authorities in bringing this to fruition.”

Go Daddy currently enjoys a double-digit global share of the SSL market. EV SSL certificates can currently only be utilized through Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, but other browsers are likely to follow shortly.
