StorHost, NationalNet Make Holiday Acquisitions |

January 5, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- While news certainly slowed during the holiday break, a number of companies continued to make headlines, with several announcements dealing with acquisitions coming during the holidays.
On Thursday, December 25, Florida-based Web hosting firm StorHost (storhost.com) announced that it had acquired automated help desk solutions provider Renax Solutions, whose Edge Panel client support system allows small to medium-sized companies to deploy integrated client support.
Using PHP and MySQL, the EdgePanel help desk solution has focused specifically on the Web hosting community up to this point. StorHost says it has already begun working on an enterprise version of the software called SupportRNX.
According to Renax, EdgePanel can be deployed in under 30 minutes, for a price starting at $35, and can eliminate the need for complex help desk solutions that might cost thousands of dollars.
And on Tuesday, December 30, it was reported that adult-oriented Web host NationalNet Inc. (national-net.com) had acquired Texas-based adult Web host Mach10, one of four acquisitions made by NationalNet during 2003.
NationalNet president Tony Morgan reportedly says his company intended to acquire six hosting companies in 2003, but only managed to buy four. The company expects to acquire another six medium-sized hosting companies in 2004.
Morgan says market conditions are making it difficult for mid-sized companies to compete, creating the perfect opportunity for larger organizations such as NationalNet to make acquisitions. He calls Mach 10 one of NationalNet's better competitors, saying the company was looking to exit the hosting business, and wanted to turn over its customers to a reliable provider. |
