Sage Networks acquires virtual web hosting divisions of Dialtone Internet

Acquisition of Dialtone's Web Hosting To Go and T3 Hosting Divisions Continues Sage Networks' Acquisition Strategy.

CAMBRIDGE, MA, January 7, 1999 - Sage Networks, Inc., a company focused on becoming the industry benchmark in Web hosting, today announced it has completed the acquisition of Dialtone Internet's Web Hosting To Go and T3 Hosting divisions. Dialtone Internet (http://www.dialtoneinternet.net) is a leading Web hosting company located in Pembroke Pines, FL. With the acquisition of Dialtone Internet's virtual Web hosting divisions, Sage Networks continues to be a leader in the consolidation of Web hosting, an industry which Forrester Research estimates will grow to over $10 billion by the year 2002.

Today's Announcement Marks Sage Networks' Eleventh Acquisition.

The acquisition of Web Hosting To Go and T3 Hosting will add a large network of customers and resellers to Sage Networks' current operations. Dialtone's dedicated and co-located customers will continue operations with Dialtone Internet in Florida. Sage Networks will migrate Dialtone Internet's virtual hosting customer base to its Atlanta data facility and customer care center.

"I am extremely excited about Sage Networks acquiring our virtual Web hosting divisions, with Sage Networks' state-of-the-art data centers and focus on exceptional service delivery, we are confident our customers will receive quality service and support," said Al Albarracin, founder of Dialtone Internet. "Sage Networks' expertise and broad range of hosting products and services will help former virtual Web hosting customers of Dialtone Internet continue to be successful with their Web presence."

"The acquisition of Dialtone Internet's Web hosting divisions further strengthens our position as a leader in the Web hosting industry," said Bradley Feld, co-chairman of Sage Networks. "The additional customer and reseller base are key components of Sage Networks' ongoing acquisition strategy."

"The rapid consolidation that we are seeing in the Web and application hosting arena is evidence that leaders still are emerging," said Michele Pelino, senior analyst, The Yankee Group. "Companies such as Sage, that can take advantage of this opportunity and provide customers with a wide array of Web hosting services, will be well positioned to create a potent force in this market."
