Data Protection Provider R1Soft Offers ‘True-Granular Restore’ Technology |

August 7, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Data protection provider R1Soft (http://www.r1soft.com), the developer of “near-continuous” data protection products for Linux and Windows, has announced that its MySQL backup product offers a new feature called ‘True Granular Restore’. The feature offers developers and administrators more control and options when restoring MySQL databases.
True Granular allows administrators to control what data is restored when restoring MySQL databases. The option operates on the individual table level, and allows any combination of tables and databases to be restored to alternate locations. This provides a great level of flexibility when, for instance, an administrator only wishes to restore a small amount of data in a large database. Restoring data to an alternate location allows administrators to review it before making it live.
“When we began developing our product, we realized that table level restores would be the killer new feature for MySQL database recovery,” explained R1Soft Founder and CEO, David Wartell. “In looking at the technical limitations, we realized why it had never been done before, especially with InnoDB. R1Soft’s CDP products diverge significantly from traditional database backup technologies, which essentially create SQL dumps to another medium, such as a tape drive. These methods only provide data protection on a daily or weekly basis, and interrupt transactions on busy MySQL servers.
