Network Solutions to Host Anti-Koran Documentary |

March 7, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider Network Solutions is to host a documentary that views the Koran in a negative light, it was reported recently. Filmed by a politician from the Netherlands who is famed for his anti-Islamic views, the documentary, entitled "Fitna", has caused considerable concern in many parts of Europe. Many fear the possibility of protests similar to those witnessed after cartoon images of the prophet Mohammed were published in Danish newspapers and magazines.
The message in Dutch MP Geert Wilders’ documentary is that the Koran – which he calls a fascist book" – promotes intolerance of other religions and terrorism amongst devotees. Mr. Wilders is looking for television networks to broadcast the 15-minute-long documentary, but will also add it to his website, FitnaTheMovie.com, hosted by Network Solutions.
Network Solutions has not made specific comment about the possibility of the documentary being hosted on their servers, but a number of reports suggest they are prepared for possible DOS (Denial-of-Service) attacks. The company has also suggested that if complaints about the content of the site were received, and it was found to breach its “acceptable-use policy”, action could be taken against it. At present, the site merely contains an image of the Koran and the text, “Geert Wilders presents Fitna - Coming Soon”.
"I want to make one thing clear," Wilders wrote on his blog. "The film will be released. Soon you will be able to see with your own eyes why the Koran is such a terrible book and why it is necessary to fight hard against Islamization."
The Dutch government has urged Mr. Wilders not to show the documentary and is making attempts to block its release. They have also expressed concerns for Dutch troops in Afghanistan if it is shown. A number of surveys in the Netherlands suggest that regardless of whether people agree with its content or not, 45% of people believe Mr. Wilders has the right to make the documentary. |
