Netcetera has Finished 17th in the Deloitte Fast 50 Technology Awards |
 |
Deloitte, the UK's fastest growing professional services firm, has unveiled its sixth annual ranking of the Northern fastest growing technology companies. Netcetera was placed 17th in the region's rankings.
Deloitte created the Technology Fast 50 to support UK technology companies and champion innovation in the sector. The programme tracks the growth rates of technology companies in seven regions in the UK and Ireland, culminating in a national ranking in December 2003.
In the North, the programme is sponsored by international law firm DLA and HSBC. Nationally, it is sponsored by Hewlett-Packard, the global provider of technology products and services; SCC, part of Europe's largest privately-owned technology group; the London Stock Exchange; and Intellect, the trade body for the UK-based information technology, telecommunications and electronics industry.
The Technology Fast 50 programme aims to find those companies that have shown impressive growth rates in the telecommunications, hardware, software and biotechnology markets over the last three financial years. All companies considered for an award must be headquartered in the North of England, must be technology-intensive, use unique technology in problem-solving, or must devote a high percentage of effort to research and development.
Damian Sanders, technology partner for the Northern Fast 50, said: "Technology companies are already making a significant contribution to the region's economy and the recent rise in the stock market is triggering renewed interest in the sector. The Fast 50 is the only programme which recognises these achievers, which is why the awards are seen as the ultimate accolade by those companies which have entered and also by their peers."
William Touche, Chairman of the Technology Fast 50 Programme, said, "The Fast 50 programme has always been a reliable indicator of whether British innovation is leading to more growth and wealth creation. These companies have demonstrated how to survive and thrive in today's market by helping their customers reduce their costs and improve their performance. We are delighted that our sponsors have joined us in encouraging fast-growing companies to showcase their businesses and to contribute to the next wave of innovation in the UK's technology sector," said William Touche.
