Internap has announced plans to acquire hosting and cloud provider
iWeb. The cost of the acquisition has been valued at around $145 million. Combined, the two companies will join the top five IT infrastructure providers, positioning them well to benefit from what researchers McKinsey & Company suggest will be $26 billion global IaaS market by 2015.
Internap manages a global network of data centers offering hybrid hosting options that provide a blend of virtual and bare-metal cloud computing, managed hosting and colocation services. The company offers a guaranteed 100% uptime and Forbes recognized the company as "one of America's Most Trustworthy". With 200 employees, Montreal, Canada-based iWeb was established in 1996 and has a 10,000-strong customer base in around 100 countries.
The two companies' choices of technology make them a good fit - both are active OpenStack Foundation participants.

"This combination represents a milestone in the transformation of Internap’s business to a leading IT infrastructure services provider that can deliver on customers’ complete range of IaaS demands.”
Internap’s plans to acquire iWeb come in the wake of its purchase of Voxel in December 2011 which enabled the availability of the company's AgileCLOUD virtual cloud and AgileSERVER bare-metal cloud services.
