Interland Leads the Hosting Industry in Revenue Growth and in Re-defining the Market
ATLANTA, (November 17, 2003) * Interland, a leading provider of online services and Web hosting for small and medium-sized businesses, today announced that it ranked Number 12 on the 2004 Deloitte Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America. Rankings are based on percentage revenue growth over five years, from 1999-2003. Interland grew 22,882 percent during this period which also made Interland the fastest growing technology company in the shared and managed hosting industry and in the Southeast.
"Growing the top line enough to make the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 is especially meaningful during tough economic times for the technology sector," said Mark A. Evans, national managing partner of Deloitte's Technology, Media and Telecommunications Group. "We commend Interland for making the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 with a phenomenal 22,882 percent growth rate over five years. Overall, companies that ranked on the 2004 Technology Fast 500 had growth rates ranging from 329 to 437,115 percent over five years, with an average growth of 4,109 percent.

The Fast 500 list is compiled from Deloitte's 19 regional North American Fast 50 programs, nominations submitted directly to the Fast 500, and public company database research. To quality for the Fast 500, entrants must have had 1999 operating revenues of at least $50,000 USD and $75,000 CD for the United States and Canada, respectively; and 2003 operations revenues must be at least $1 million USD or DC.
Entrants must also be a public or private company headquartered in North America and must be a "technology company," defined as a company that owns proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues; or devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology in a unique way does not qualify.
In addition to capturing a top spot on the 2004 Technology Fast 500 list, CEO Joel Kocher has again been placed on the Atlanta Business Chronicle's prestigious "Who's Who in Technology" list. The Atlanta Business Chronicle's annual list highlights the "most influential and important figures in Atlanta's technology industry" referring to those on the list as "key players and persons to know when navigating the local technology scene." This is the second year in a row Kocher has earned this recognition.
