Web Hosting Provider Hostway Recommends Companies Register their “.mobi” Domain Name |

May 18, 2006 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider Hostway (http://www.hostway.co.uk) has recommended companies register their “.mobi” domain name as soon as possible. The industry “sunrise period” for the new domain extensions has already started and industry members will be able to register a new domain name from May 22, 2006. General trademark holders will be able to register from June 12, 3006.
The new domain name extension is unique in that it will apply only to websites certified “suitable for mobile browsing” through Internet enabled telephones. “Companies should register for the “.mobi” domain name of their choice as soon as possible in order to capitalize on the opportunities that it presents,” suggested Hostway’s Director Mr. Neil Barton. “Every new domain name represents an extension of the Internet, and “.mobi” most significantly so - it represents the official recognition of using mobile devices to access the Internet. Demand for this domain name will grow as mobile devices such as phones and PDAs become more Internet-friendly and as mobile websites improve, so it is essential that companies with trademarks get in there fast.”
