EPA Recognizes Web Hosting Provider Datapipe For Leading Green Power Purchase

April 23, 2010
April 23, 2010 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Datapipe, a leading provider of managed hosting and IT services, announced today its partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA's) Green Power Partnership. Datapipe is purchasing nearly nine million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power annually, which is enough to power its Somerset One data center solely on renewable energy resources. Datapipe is purchasing Renewable Energy Credits through Constellation NewEnergy. This purchase demonstrates a proactive choice to switch away from traditional sources of electricity generation and support cleaner, renewable energy alternatives.

"We're pleased to be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for choosing to purchase green power," said Robb Allen, Datapipe CEO. "Investing in sustainable energy is the right thing to do for our kids, our community and our clients."

Green power is electricity that is generated from environmentally preferable renewable resources, such as wind, solar, geothermal, biogas, biomass and low-impact hydro. These resources generate electricity with a net zero increase in carbon dioxide emissions, while offering a superior environmental profile compared to traditional power generation sources. Green power purchases also support the development of new renewable energy generation sources nationwide.

"The EPA is pleased to welcome Datapipe to the Green Power Partnership," said Susan Wickwire, Chief of the Energy Supply and Industry Branch at USEPA. "We applaud their commitment to using green power to reduce greenhouse gas emissions," Wickwire added.
