DDoS protection company Arbor Networks Inc. has acquired security analytics company Packetloop with the intention of investing in and expanding its operations in Sydney, Australia. Financial details related to the deal were not released.

Arbor Networks provides a range of services that help protect networks from DDoS attacks and other sophisticated threats. According to research company Infonetics, Arbor is the "world’s leading provider of DDoS protection in the enterprise, carrier and mobile market segments". Arbor’s solutions combine packet capture and NetFlow technology to quickly detect and mitigate malware and other threats. The company also offers analytics that provide data on dynamic incident response, historical analysis, visualization and forensics.

Packetloop is a cloud-based security analysis platform that allows customers to analyze their network traffic. The solution provides real-time monitoring that helps companies address malware and other threats using a blend of packet capture, big data analytics, security forensics and visualizations. The company's products provide a close fit to Arbor's activity. Packetloop’s products and services will be integrated to Arbor's platform later this year to offer users industry leading threat detection, mitigation and forensics options.
