Flint, MI (February 18, 2000) – CustomWeb(A Division of Avalon Systems, Inc.) today announced that they have completed the installation of an OC3 (155MB) fiber optic backbone in it's Flint, MI network operations center. At the same time, USOL.com is making a new T3 (45MB) connection to UUNET available to it's clients. "CustomWeb has been growing at a fantastic rate, and we saw the need to expand our bandwidth capabilities to keep up with demand", stated Fred Rappuhn, President. Since fiber optic cables rely on light waves instead of electricity, all that is required to upgrade the connection speed is some equipment. This essentially makes fiber optic cables limitless." Not only will this new T3 allow our dialup users to surf faster, but having fiber will allow us to grow our co-location and dedicated T1 customer base more quickly, while at the same time reduces installation times for new T1 or T3 customers", Fred stated.
