Web Host to Advertise During Dallas Cowboys Games

August 29, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Sports Illustrated writer Peter King recently remarked that the former Sports Illustrated managing editor, Mark Mulvoy, who first hired King to work at the magazine in 1989 used the following credo for covering the NFL: “When in doubt, write about the Cowboys. People love the Cowboys. Or people hate the Cowboys.”

The idea behind covering America’s most popular sport is to cause a stir which is probably why domain registrar and web host Go Daddy was willing to fork over the obscene money it takes to advertise in the Super Bowl last year. They caused a mild controversy with an ad featuring a scantily clad buxom model and instantly reaped the benefits of both the humorous ad’s popularity and controversy which has helped propel the company to the top in the domain registration market.

Now, web hosting provider C I Host is following in the footsteps of both Go Daddy and Mark Mulvoy as they have announced they will be advertising in Dallas Cowboys television coverage. The twist is that they are also going to market this option to their Web hosting clients.

"These ads are almost as fun as the game," said CEO Christopher Faulkner. "The television format proportions itself to slide the ads beneath the normal picture when game action halts and might need a creative boost."

It will be interesting to see if C I Host can turn the trick and recover enough of their investment in advertising during Cowboy’s games. While Go Daddy was assured the most widely viewed television event of the year with a Super Bowl ad, the Dallas Cowboys have a much more limited market. Still, the potential for gaining name recognition is great as most outside of the web hosting industry would probably struggle to name even the industries biggest web hosts or even one web host.
