Web Hosting Company C I Host Marks Eighth Anniversary |
 |
May 1, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - C I Host, a global leader in web hosting and data center operations, today marked its eighth anniversary, celebrating its rapid rise from an Internet design firm to one of the leading Web hosting firms in the world.
"It's been a wild ride, and it is just beginning. Our C I Host brand is eight years old and the company is growing faster than ever," said Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host. "No one expects an Internet company to be eight years old. In 'Internet years' -- sort of like 'dog years' - I think that makes us something like 'eighty-eight.'"
In spite of the demise of many "dot.com" firms, C I Host has experienced triple-digit growth since its inception, flourishing as the Internet revolutionized business.
"We have always been on a fast swim upstream, against the current as others succumbed to the downturn in business. With the dot.com bust, many professionals - for the first time in their careers - had to find other sources of income," Faulkner said. "Thousands of them became first-time, e-commerce entrepreneurs. Those entrepreneurs are the core customers of C I Host, so the downtown probably benefited our company to a degree."
C I Host also has benefited from its own marketing savvy. The company relies heavily on building its brand through traditional and non-traditional or guerilla marketing. C I Host was the first Internet company to advertise on the trunks of a heavyweight prize fighter, embroidering its logo on Evander Holyfields attire, as witnessed by millions. Also, C I Host intorduced tat-vertising to the world, when it launched The Human Billboard - a young man with C I Host's logo permanently inked on his scalp.
In April, C I Host launched a sequel of sorts - sponsoring a documentary film being shot in London. In "A Word From My Sponsor," a young filmmaker literally travels the streets of London, filming reaction to the C I Host logo tattooed temporarily on his forehead. The film, featuring C I Host "front of mind awareness," will be submitted to film festivals around the country.
