AT&T Expands European Internet Data Centers to Increase Web Hosting Operations

October 31, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Telecommunications provider AT&T (http://www.att.com/hosting) has expanded its Internet data centers located in London and Amsterdam, it was announced yesterday. The expansion will cater for increased demand for the company’s fully managed hosting, advanced monitoring, hosted storage, colocation and other services, and sees its London facility increase in space by more than one-third. The company also announced new facilities in the US and Canada.

AT&T suggests the expansion is part of year-long activity to increase its web hosting operations worldwide. The company will open three other centers with two facilities opening in New Jersey, USA and Toronto, Canada. There will be a
$750 million investment in its international infrastructure during the period and the total number of AT&T global Internet data centers will increase to 38, broadening its “total global footprint of hosting space to exceed 2.1 million square feet”. AT&T also announced it will offer hosting services through its Toronto facility by the end of 2007.

“We continue to invest in growing our business to support customers and to meet the high demands of businesses large and small for managed hosting and application services,” explained Head of EMEA at AT&T, Mr. Tom Regent. “The expansions of AT&T’s data centers in Europe and around the world are needed to support all the businesses that turn to AT&T for integrated hosting and network solutions allowing them to focus on running their business.” According to the company, it “designs its data centers practices and controls with redundancy and reliability in mind” and they are audited under SAS 70 Type II.
