Cloud Platform Provider Nutanix to Acquire Cloud-based Desktop and Application Specialist Frame
Hyper-converged pioneer and cloud platform provider Nutanix is to acquire cloud-based desktop and application specialist Mainframe2 (Frame). Nutanix, which has headquarters in San Jose, California, United States, was established in 2009. The company prides itself on making “infrastructure invisible” to allow its customers to focus on the applications they need for their business. Its enterprise cloud platform brings together compute, virtualization and storage to provide a software-based solution which leverages machine intelligence. Nutanix’s solution manages deployment of “any virtual workload, including large-scale virtual desktop initiatives (VDI), development/test apps, private clouds, big data (Hadoop) projects and more”. The company’s acquisition of Frame is designed to enhance its ability to deliver multi-cloud solutions and Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) options for its ‘Nutanix Xi Cloud Services’. Financial aspects of the deal have not been released.

Frame, which has headquarters in San Mateo, California, United States, also has offices in Washington, DC and Europe. Established in 2012, the company is supported by Microsoft and provides a cloud platform that allows customers to access Windows apps using any device. Its platform was built “from scratch for the cloud age” and its services include app streaming, virtualization, and alongside DaaS, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) options. The company has a broad customer base which includes major enterprises such as Siemens, HP, and Adobe.

"Frame's cloud-native technology represents everything we believe to be true in the market -- customers want easy-to-use, high-performance and cost-optimized solutions that just work across the entirety of their infrastructure."
